Five days is widely considered the sweet spot for a first Iceland trip — enough time to see the essentials without rushing, and enough to add one bigger adventure beyond the standard day trips.
Day 1: Arrive and ease in
Land, get settled, and keep the day light — a walk around Reykjavík’s harbour and a geothermal pool visit is the ideal low-effort first evening after a flight.
Day 2: The Golden Circle
A full day on the Golden Circle — Þingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss — with a soak at a geothermal spa to close it out.
