Book it: golden circle tours

The Golden Circle is Iceland’s most famous sightseeing route — a roughly 230 km loop east of Reykjavík that strings together three very different landmarks: Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian plates pull apart and the Icelandic parliament was founded in 930; the Geysir geothermal field, where Strokkur throws boiling water skywards every few minutes; and Gullfoss, where the glacial Hvítá river drops in two steps into a canyon. Nothing else in Iceland packs that much geology into a single day of driving.
